![]() | Prof. Shengwei MeiTsinghua University, China IEEE Fellow Shengwei Mei, Professor at Tsinghua University, former Vice President of Qinghai University, Dean of the School of Energy and Electrical Engineering at Qinghai University, recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education, academic leader of the Innovative Research Group supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, IEEE Fellow, IET Fellow, Fellow of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, Fellow of the Chinese Electrical Engineering Society, and Fellow of the Chinese Association of Automation. He is also a "Kunlun Scholar" at Qinghai University, specially appointed professor under the "Sanjiangyuan Scholars" program, and a recipient of Qinghai Province’s "High-end Innovative Talent Program" (introduction of outstanding talents). He serves as the chief scientist for the Energy Storage Demonstration Project under the National Energy Administration, chief scientist at China Salt’s Salt Cavern Company, chief expert at China Yangtze Three Gorges New Energy Company, and director of the Multi-energy Complementary Green Energy Storage Laboratory of the Yellow River Hydropower Company. Professor Mei has long been engaged in research on power system control as well as the safe transmission, efficient utilization, and clean storage of large-scale new energy. Since 2013, Professor Shengwei Mei has been providing targeted support to Qinghai University. Over more than a decade, he has steadfastly worked on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, making outstanding contributions to the development of education and science and technology in Qinghai. |
![]() | Prof. Yongdong LiTsinghua University, China IEEE IAS Beijing Chapter Chairman Yongdong Li, Professor at Tsinghua University, holds a bachelor’s degree from Harbin Institute of Technology and a master’s and Ph.D. from the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, France. He completed postdoctoral research at Tsinghua and has taught there since 1990, becoming professor in 1996 and doctoral supervisor in 1999. He also served as a visiting professor in Toulouse and Harbin and received titles such as “Zhongda Scholar” and “Tianshan Distinguished Professor.” His research focuses on high-capacity power electronic converters, digital control of AC motors, and applications in CNC machine tools, high-speed rail traction, marine propulsion, and new energy generation. He has led multiple national and international research projects and developed China’s first industrialized high-voltage frequency converter, achieving notable economic benefits. His wind power project won a top award from the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. Li has held leadership roles in key laboratories and academic committees, including Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Power Systems and Chair of the IEEE IAS Beijing Chapter. He has published over 300 papers, authored three monographs, and serves on editorial boards of international journals. He has collaborated extensively with universities worldwide, and many of his students have won national awards and hold leadership roles in academia and industry. |
![]() | Prof. Weiqing WangXinjiang University, China Weiqing Wang graduated from Zhejiang University in 1990 with a Master’s degree in Power Systems and Automation. He is a second-level professor at Xinjiang University’s School of Electrical Engineering, director of the postdoctoral station and Level-1 doctoral program in Electrical Engineering, and supervisor for graduate students. A State Council special allowance expert, he is recognized nationally and regionally for his contributions, earning multiple honors including Xinjiang Advanced Worker and Outstanding Returned Overseas Personnel. His research focuses on key components of large wind turbines, intelligent control, power conversion, relay protection, and grid integration technologies. He leads Xinjiang’s key discipline in Power Systems and Automation and heads the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Renewable Energy Generation and Grid Control. Prof. Wang also directs the key laboratory for renewable energy grid connection in the region. Wang was a senior visiting scholar at the Technical University of Berlin and conducted academic exchanges in Germany. His awards include the National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize (2016), Xinjiang Science and Technology Progress Special Prize (2017), and several others. He has managed over 30 research projects, including 9 national-level programs. Prof. Wang has published 140+ papers (8 SCI, 40+ EI), authored one monograph, and holds 4 patents. He contributed to a national standard and is a leading figure in wind power and renewable energy research and education. |
